Recruitment

Recruitment under Open Stream (Only for the engineers who have possessed professional qualifications)

Educational Qualifications

• Shall have possessed a degree after successfully completing a BSc degree in engineering ( full time course duration of 4 years under a stream on which the recruitment is made) from a university  recognized by the University Grants Commission
• Shall have obtained the valid certificate after completing all educational and other requirements under a stream on which the recruitment is made, which have been recognized by University Grants Commission and Sri Lanka Institute of Engineers as a qualification equivalent to the degree indicated in (i) above.

Professional Qualifications

Should have possessed a certificate from Sri Lanka Institute of Engineers to prove that recognized educational qualifications have been fulfilled to get the associate membership of the Sri Lanka Institute of Engineers.

Recruitment under Limited Stream

• Should have completed a service period of not less than 15 years as an officer belonging to Engineering Assistants’ Service of the Department of Irrigation (of which at least five years should have been completed after promotion to Grade I) and passed the examination Senior Technical Examination.
• An officer serving in a post of a supervisory manager of the Department of Railway should have completed a service of not less than 15 years in the department  (of which at least five years should have been completed after promotion to Grade I)
• Should have completed a service period of not less than 15 years as a Technical Officer in Sri Lanka Technological Service (of which at least five years should have been completed after promotion to Grade I) and passed the third examination (Minute-1979) for Technical Officers of the government conducted by the Commissioner General of examination.
• Shall have completed a service period of not less than 21 years as a Technical Officer in Sri Lanka Technological Service and been promoted to Special Grade of the Service (should have also completed 5 years of service at Grade I) and passed the second examination (Minute-1979) for Technical Officers of the government conducted by the Commissioner General of examination.
