There has been the need of a proper process for settling disputes in Public Service for a long time. This requirement is included in the policy statement of H.E. the President “Vistas of Prosperity and Splendour” and it has become a prominent task of the Ministry of Public Services, Provincial Councils and Local Government. Accordingly, the Cabinet Memorandum for preparing the relevant mechanism has been submitted to the Cabinet of Ministers by Mr. Janaka Bandara Thennakoon, Minister in charge of the subject on 25/09/2020 and the approval of the Cabinet of Ministers has been received for the same. International Labour Organization has extended its consent to make the technical and financial contribution in implementing this new mechanism and an initial discussion in this regard has been held at the Ministry of Public Services. This discussion has been held between Mrs. Simrin Singh, Director, ILO Country Office for Sri Lanka and the Maldives and Mr. Janaka Bandara Thennakoon, Minister of Public Services. Mr. J.J. Rathnasiri, Secretary of the Ministry and Mr. Mahinda Madihewa, Advisor of the Ministry have also participated in this discussion.
